I love The Battle of the Bulge. No accounting for a good taste :p I rest my case Seriously though From wiki on the subject of inaccuracies in Battle of the Bulge: Aside from the initial American encounters with the German offensive, there is some absence of cold weather and snow, which were the conditions in which the real battle was fought. There is no trace of snow at all in the film's major tank battle scene. Nor were some battle scenes fought in flat and bare territory, considering the mountainous, and forested and grassy nature of the Ardennes. The film was shot on location in Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range and Madrid Spain. Hello? Snow anyone? Ardennes in 1944 wasnt exactly flat and treeless was it? Indeed the Ardennes at any time is never treeless and flat!
There was lots of snow in the film - The man from Hawaii 5 0 took cover in it. Book him Dano I love The Battle of Midway for the same reason as with all those 60's/70's war films from that era. The Battle of Midway even uses Candid Camera from the battles.
In addition to all the crap mentioned above, I'd like to nominate "Kill Rommel!" Badly dubbed Italian-made hokum which inexplicably casts Anton Diffring as a British officer - perhaps Gert Frobe was unavailable? Uccidete Rommel (1969) - IMDb user reviews Oddest part of all is that there's no sign of anyone who even conceivably might be Rommel throughout the entire film!
The Battle of the Bulge at least brought the battle to prominence. The sneaky Germans coming through the Ardennes "again", the atrocious conditions it was fought in, how close "the win" was. Forget Henry he was a detective. There are many much worse. Like Anzio, Could have been 3 episodes of "Combat" put together. Did not enlighten anybody as to the importance of the landing or the battle. Totally unforgettable.
Question is folks, do we base our perceptions of these films on what we remember seeing as children as Drew says about the Battle of the bulge, or our opinions of those films when we are older and wiser in how things should be with the knowledge of education in such things
Just to add to what I've already said if it wasn't for these brilliant 'Cheese' films I probably wouldn't have had an interest in WW2, moved out of London, joined the forces, served overseas, got divorced, go to Dunkirk, join here, get hooked on 1940 France. God dam those bastids for making shite films !

... Of the same ilk you have Big Red One, there must be something about Italy, I guess. ...... The Big Red One is junk Hell is for Heroes Von Ryan's Express None But the Brave Ambush Bay
"From Hell to Victory" left quite a scar on my psyche. Made during the 70s, George Peppard saved the world I think, and as I recall the RAF flew 109s and the Lufty had Spits...at least according to the blokes who painted the Airfix kits for the Battle of Britain sequence. A dogfight melee, which I dimly recollect was staged at night, which was probably to hide the wires. It also marked the exit of the one British character in what was a European co-production. The beach at Dunkirk looked more like a carpark, there were US Commando raids all along the French coast, and I swear by the end I was hoping the Jerries shot the whole bleeding cast! I wonder how much of that little rant would prove to be correct if I was ever (forced on pain of death) to sit through it again? Gary
Ships With Wings which has a poor script, a silly plot, bad acting and some jaw-dropping special effects. I particularly like the scene where the hero is trying to land his plane on a Greek island while under fire from archetypal Nazi thugs armed with pistols. He runs one of them down, uses the body to stop the plane on the spot and then leaps out to pick up the victim's gun to shoot the others. All in real time! The climax involving a panzer division, two planes and a dam is even better but I won't spoil the surprise for the curious. Steve Holy shoot! Now there's a film I want to see
It's a Great War film so you may be lucky enough not to have seen it: 'Passchendaele' it fairly awful. Roxy
How can you not love Kate? Hubba-hubba If the Imperial Japanese Navy had any artistic taste, they would have killed her first!:indexCA7C9VES:
If the Imperial Japanese Navy had any artistic taste, they would have killed her first!:indexCA7C9VES: But we all know they haven't.
"Where Eagles Dare" ("Broadsword to Danny Boy"), "Battle of The Bulge" ("You know my reputation!"), "Away all Boats" ("Get your dirty Jap plane away from by ship!!") "Anzio" "U571" ( I can't read these , they are all in German") ( WTF did you expect!!!!!) Some awful ones from Hollywood in the 1960's , my Dad used to talk about us being rescued by "The Hollywood Hussars".
No disagreement with any of the offerings so far and would have to say that Battle of the Bulge should top the list...except for this stinker--> Fireball Forward It was so bad, they had to use outtakes from Battle of the Bulge.
