best war so far???? ...mmmm.....i wouldn't say yes to that but it is surely interesting as so many things happened that shaped the world...i agree

i'm sure that some past wars were short and glorious could be qualified as best...personally i love the little wars that happened for german or italian unification...they were short and clever....not TOO many people got hurt and they actually advanced countries without massive destruction

montgomery "best" wasn't the choicest word but it's good that you have an interest in what happened in WW2. You are like most of us here when we were your age, modelling , wargaming and the like.(sometimes wish I still was.)
Be prepared later in life to spend huge abouts of cash on books, travels to the battlefields and memrobilia.

Can't deny it Monty. definitely THE defining occurence in modern history (though again, we're all too old to say any war was the 'best' anymore), So much of the shape of our modern world was formed by what happened between 39-45 how can you fail to be fascinated by it.

Oh Lord, i'm in the presence of nerds. Modelling and gaming? Amateurs! B&E! Trespassing! Theft! These are the real tools of all WW2 history converts.
By the way, anyone know how to get a Wimpy wheel in the back of a Fiesta without anyone knowing?
Monty, you are right that it was the most influential and defining war of the past century. It was truly global and changed so much. But best? Erm... use the thesaurus on your computer mate.

Throwing stones in glass houses is fun.
Never a nerd, my boy. But i do have a good rap sheet for B&E, trespassing and hopefully theft after helping with a WW2 exhibit last year. I am very adept at nonchalant lingering before nipping through or over barb wire fences, climbing onto and dropping into command centres a mile from the road in the middle of private land. and i still can't work out how to get that bloody wheel into the car...

    Spoil sport.
However, Monty is quite right about WW2 being the turning point. The world changed in those 6 years. Usually for the better, but not always.
