Great site, and good to see that many of the Pals from the Baker Rifles have joined up
I'm just 'getting into' WW2, although the Great War takes up most of my time, and I look forward to learning more.

    Congratulations Nick,

Thanks for this forum, I'm looking forward to an interesting retirement.

First, I discovered WW1 (The Great War Forum) and now WW2.

    I wish you every success.

    Hello all

Thanks to Paul Reed for bringing this forum to my attention.

I know next to nothing about WWII so you will all have to be very patient with me!

Glad to see so many familiar faces and looking forward to learning from you all.

    Kind regards

I have today added extra links to this site and GWF now from my homepage for the time being - hope this may also help further.

This is great, as I have an Uncle who drove landing craft at Anzio and I can now find out a little more about this. My Uncle is still living and I am in the process of trying to persuade him to put his experiences on tape for me.

    Well done!

    Afternoon all.
Congratulations on the new site, and i look forward to popping in now and again.
    Just don't tell my wife!
With the 60th Anniversary of D-Day,just around the corner, and the interest that it is going to generate,it will be handy to have a forum like this.
Look forward to chatting to you all,in the future, and good luck with the site.
    All the best.
    Simon Furnell.

At last!! Hopefully we can get comments from the veterans who actually served and not just from the usual "fireside fusiliers"!!

Was this the first ever thread?
How many of these originals are left?
I see a few names that are still here.

Wow! A bit of Forum History! Presumably Lee bought it later?

Apart from Paul, we don't see much of the other originals. But Salientpoints, Croonaert & Armourersergeant are still very active on the Great War Forum. (I go there myself, but its rare that I can think of anything intellgent to say except occassionally in the War in the Air section).

crikey, doesn't it look basic back in the early days.
I only had a second hand PC with dial up then.
Was in my "time off from the Wars into Birding phase".
Good job I was too. Just think if I'd been here back then......actually no don't.
