    It depends on one's circumstances
Some may remember that between the first and second Gulf Wars Saddam briefly threatened Kuwait again. I arrived in Kuwait City in the middle of all that for a scheduled meeting with some American contractors (only to find that their company had just evacuated them all) and was out in the street when the air raid siren's went off. I can assure you I was not thrilled at the sound, especially since I had not been yet issued with a pass to the shelters. Fortunately it being a false alarm the all clear sounded shortly - now that was a nice sound.

I would imagine that people whose houses are at risk of flooding didn't find the sound a great experience either.

A local business or place of work near to my work use the siren for the beginning of their working day at 9.15am. I hear it often, but do not know where it eminates from.

My late mother used to say that her stomach churned whenever she heard the siren at the start of the TV series Dad's Army - even though it was the all clear

It upsets me very much. Sounds daft, but it makes me cry!
