World War 2 In Colour

    Have found this amazing WW2 website which has over 1,600 colour images from ww2

    Fantastic, thanks. Its hard to believe that the young men in the photos would be in their 80s now, if they grew old at all.

    Take a look at no. 48 out of 111, in the British Military section. Supposed to be the tail end of a Lancaster . But the turret looks wrong, and the serial number starting with L suggests a much earlier a/c. Do you think it may be a Manchester? Many pictures of a Manchester show a third, central tail fin which this one lacks - but I believe the early ones did not have this feature (and so were impossible to control on one engine)

    Well spotted Adrian, serial no L7483 does check out as a manchester on an official 207 Sqn web site

    Thanks guys, those are great sites! What a wonderful resource, the pictures are breathtaking.
