Oh yeah, I've tried golfing. Haven't played in about 10 years or so. I'd have to spend the whole summer on the driving range if I ever decided to pick up the clubs again. It is a pretty good workout, when you walk 18 and throw clubs and all.

I've played both and rugby is a far tougher game. If you try and play that sport like North American football, you will get killed or maimed. I've played organized hockey, football, track and rugby but by far the most grueling sport was wrestling. Complete exhaustion after 3 rounds.

You watch SEC football so you know those 'roided out genetic freaks are still as quick as cats. They're as fast as soccer players in short sprints. Here are the speeds of some offensive linemen college players just trying to make the big league in 2017.

Seeing all that kinetic energy released on every play is what makes it so much fun to watch. Like train wrecks :)

Last number is 40 yard dash time. And these are the slowest players on the field.

Yes but after a 40 yd dash they all need an oxygen cylinder to recover, whereas in football they have to continue to run, after all a football pitch is 100yds long, and its all very nice being able to run 40 of them quickly but what happens in the other 60 yds.

If only we could invent a game that at every tackle there is a stop and reset, a game that has multiple teams for offence, defence, kicking off, kicking goals anything else you can think off

    Summary, Distance travelled per game.
    Basketball - 4.37 Kms (2.72 Miles)
American Football - 2.01 Kms (1.25 Miles) ? over how long??
    Tennis - 3.62 Kms (2.25 Miles),
Football - 11.2-15.28 Kms (7-9.5 Miles) in about 90 minutes

    American football - Wikipedia

Football games last for a total of 60 minutes in professional and college play and are divided into two-halves of 30 minutes and four-quarters of 15 minutes.[71][72] High school football games are 48 minutes in length with two-halves of 24 minutes and four-quarters of 12 minutes.[73] The two-halves are separated by a halftime period, and the first and third quarters are also followed by a short break

Just how many breaks do they need - thought they were MEN

I should so like to live in a world where professional sport did not exist. Actually, amateur sport can bugger-off too. What is it with you lot who like running around or watching other people do it ?

    Here come the big boys.
Many linemen don't touch the ball all year, so these plays are pretty amusing.

    Argh!
Bollocks to that resolution - 'breast is best' is yet another example of a policy attracting single issue zealots (mostly other women) who have nothing better to do than belittle and stigmatise those who exercise a right to choose; in my experience 'promoting' it in UK had very little to do with education of benefits and more to do with interfering in personal choices. Hospital staff treated me like it was tantamount to child abuse when I finally resorted to formula milk for one of my babies. (Strangely enough, contrary to some cited benefits, he was the only one of my kids not to develop asthma and allergies.)

I'm definitely not for state interference in such personal decisions!
Stances such as this 'Artificial baby feeding' note criticised
lead to 'clarifications' such as this: Bottle feeding is a woman's right, midwives told

A pal of mine posted recently about this and would have sided against you. But then he's a he. I was bottle fed myself, it didn't leave me with any scars I can think of. Let a hundred flowers bloom.

It obviously has to be a free, personal choice. Still, that "breast is best" phrase carries a certain affinity.

I'd liked to have seen him try to interfere at the time with my own personal and informed choice. But then he surely is at liberty to discuss the matter with any mother of his children. ;)

And everything is indeed monetised, including lobbying/campaigning.

Unusually for me I haven't yet caught a single match this World Cup. If I were a superstitious type I'd be wondering if my lack of audience participation has anything at all to do with Germany's exit and England's recent success. Maybe though I should make a point of watching now it's the semi...
