    Hi All

Does anyone know where i could research or visit for information / photos of the Worcestershire Regiment 2nd Battalion from 1933 when it was in China, to 1941 when it was in India, my late father was in the 2nd Battalion between these dates before he joined the 151 Parachute Regiment.

    Thanks for any information.

Sadly you are out of date TD its now the Mercian Regimental Museum (Next to ASDA with carpark)
Its the Ogilby Trust the same as the others around the country. Afraid it will cost you for info.

The Mercian Regiment Museum (Worcestershire) | Home of the Worcestershire Soldier

New Dancox House Pheasant Street, Worcester WR1 2EE Tel: 01905 721982

Norton /barracks closed many years ago

In the same building is the Army Reserve Centre 214 Battery RA. where there are some records of the 67th Field Regt RA (TA)
Serious researchers will need to make an appointment with the PSAO as they are locked in a store room not for public view.

I understand Norton Barracks closed which is why I copied the section about its transfer to
Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum - Museums Worcestershire

Immerse yourself in the special exhibitions, events and activities throughout the year. The museum gallery has lots of amazing things to see including dinosaur footprints, Worcestershire Sauce archive and many more interesting objects from a real Roman mosaic to a Native American totem pole.
Whilst you are here visit the engaging and interactive galleries dedicated to telling the story of the Worcestershire Regiment and the Worcestershire Yeomanry Cavalry and not forgetting the recreated Victorian Chemist Shop.
Our temporary exhibitions change regularly, so why not browse our What’s On calendar.
Worcester’s principal art gallery and museum hosts a unique programme of contemporary art exhibitions, as well as housing a historic picture collection and an intriguing selection of objects ranging from a 19th century chemist’s shop to the wonderful Regimental Museum.

Its quite possible that they have the archives required - any and all options may resolve the OPs question

They arent far from each other, worth going to both if you visit Worcester while there go to The Hive it is the County Library and County Archive and part of Worcester University complex :
    The Hive -

2nd Floor is the Archive Dept where there are records of the 67th Field Regt deposited by local people over the years and probably the Worcesters too. They also hold audio recordings of men giving their stories in the 1990's used in BBC Peoples War. These are to be digitised and placed on line over the next coming years, Covid permitting.

Its an easy walk to the Museum and Art Gallery The ARC and the Mercian Museum.
Check before you go due to Covid restrictions.

Sorry to come across a bit dogmatic, whilst it would be good to check all these places out the Mercian Regt Museum is where the Worcester Regimental museum moved to from Norton Barracks along with its last curator who is (or was) a trustee of the current Mercian Museum. Ring them to confirm in case things have changed since I was in there in 2018.
There have been various sales of items from there in the past few years presumably as they dont match the Ogilby profile but I would expect them to hold the archived documents.
If not, they would probably offer them to the County Archives at The Hive the safest place to store them both securely and environmentally.
There is also an online museum About the Museum but I doubt that they have any archived documents.
Having spent much time in Worcester researching (and enjoying the local taverns as a lad) I think I can speak from experience.
Take a look at the link on posting by ozzy16 and click the "Regimental Archives" heading. The location it gives is Dancox House the location of the Mercian Museum. It is a slightly older version of the same website on line now.

Apologies but I dont want you to go to Worcester not knowing what you will see, or worse, not have enough time too see it all.
I include in this Worcester Cathedral where various Regimental Colours are laid up and various remembrance plaques can be seen.

MANY APOLOGIES TD, IT HAS RECENTLY MOVED
I was there not so long ago with the curator in April 2019.
Suggest you check before you go as these places in Worcester move around like men on a chessboard.

I just picked it up on Google Map then check searched it.

I wonder if the Army Reserve Centre will be next to move.

I have emailed the Mercian Museum for confirmation regarding their new address, when they open and their possession of the Worcester Regt Archives.

    Re above posting:
"I note that you have moved to the Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum.
Is this correct and is it permanent or temporary).
    When are you open.
I have a friend seeking the Worcester Regiment Archives".

Rapid reply from the Curator Mercian Regiment Museum Worcester:

No, we have not moved. The Museum gallery display has been at the Museum and Art Gallery since 1975, and the archives are still housed in the Reserve Army Centre at Dancox House.
