I am currently compiling some information about Lieutenant John Eric Proctor RNVR who carved pieces of wood in PoW camps across Germany during WW2.

If anyone has a piece by him or reputed to be by him, I'd be grateful if you'd post a response here or contact me by email as I'm trying to confirm the mark he carved into his war pieces.

    Thanks

I recently brought a fine Wood Sculpture of a crouching nude with the monogram "JP" and dated 1948.

If you give me your address I'll post details of the monogram to you.

If you have any information on John Eric Proctor as a sculptor or pictures of his works I would be most pleased to see them.

I'm aware of the article and picture of him in the "Manchester Evening News" of the 27th March 1950 showing him putting finishing touches to his carved bust of the head of the conductor: John Barbirolli - albeit I don't have the newspaper cutting.

    Kindest regards,
    Chris Johnson
