Just dropping in to touch base with the WW2 "Talk" members, as opposed to the WW2 "F'ers."

Still got a virus onthe site.
I haven't been able to find anything, but I'll look again. Can you give a bit more detail of what you cam across?

    It's up and running.
    I hate change.
I agree Opana. Change Bad! :D Any migration like the one at WW2F is a complex task, I'm glad we had an expert to help. I did fight the move as long as possible, but there is just no future in vBulletin. Von Poop's been privy to the process and I'll let him speak on the topic himself, but I think he's on board as far as IPB being a major improvement. Most significantly on server & forum controls side where Mods and Admin spend most of their time.

It's extremely helpful to this site that WW2F was your guinea pig. WW2F was more complex technical job in several facets than WW2T will be, which bodes well. That said, the migration here wasn't my decision . I honestly don't make any functional decisions here, and if your admin team wanted to stay with the older version of vB, I'd be fine with that. As it stands I'll continue my role here, which is to not do anything other than keep the server and software running. I've said from day one of ownership here I wasn't going to meddle, and I haven't. In fact, there are strict rules to keep the sites different, no mods serve on both sites, no shared ban lists, no common data or imports either way, etc. My admin status here is for technical purposes only. After the upgrade, I'm going to step right back into what I normally do which is to deal with WW2F and let WW2T do it's own thing.

Impossible. The site is down. Completely non existant for the day.
You are seeing a single html page, which is actually temporarily hosted elsewhere.
Nothing on planet earth (or outer space) to do with the old www2f.com forum.

The malware is long, long gone.
So your browser's preferences are set wrong, sending you warnings based on location feedback from ages ago.

What browser are you using? How com"puker" savvy are you?
    Tnx Fred Wilson, Canada. [IMG]

Well let's be honest. I know all to well it is most certainly is possible. However, virus issues generally aren't restricted to single users, and Google indexing is very eager to report any malicious content, especially on a site with a history of it. vBulltin 4.x, which was used at WW2F is porous on the security front, which is why WW2Talk never upgraded from 3.x, even though the product was bought and paid for. The new IPB platform will make things a lot safer.

I suspect this alert is a remnant of the past, but I always take these seriously, because one never knows.

Invision gets very poor hits from Google (and has a bug)
I am a past master at that. One of the original people on the intranet, long before it became public.
Otto is mulling over letting me become a minor glitch guru moderator.

===> YOU!!! YES YOU CAN HELP GOOGLE ETC INDEXING !!! <=== [IMG]
In your TOPIC TITLE use wording that is DEADLY ACCURATE TO THE THREAD'S CONTENT.

If it has a bug, ANY bug, report it to Invision IMMEDIATELY.
    - I have already discovered they reply within seconds, having already been hard at it.

Needless to say I was impressed, and this became a turnaround attitude moment for me.

Not strictly necessary, but it helps forum members a lot more than Google. Google goes deeper that content titles.

I picked a post from on here, posted around midday today - copied one phrase - googled it - came up hit #1. I don't believe the invisionzone forum does that. But maybe it's how it's set up though and Otto's just fixed it good.

Did try to report to the mods but could not get through. Since I'm probably banned from there (GWF) and they've done me very few favours, I could not be arsed to go further!

I suspect it's the portal that has the greatest influence on how rapidly WW2T is indexed. Google must be indexing it on an hourly basis and probably catching all the new threads and posts with only having to go one layer deep.

If threads get buried deep in sub-fora then Google may only index on a monthly basis.

The easier information is to access for humans, the better and quicker coverage it is going to get in Google.

I just did a search for a specific phrase posted in the body of a message at WW2F today, about two hours ago. Google already had it and displayed it for me.
