Women under threat - the Kent/Sussex coast, Summer 1940...

    Guys, I'm putting this here because it's really more of a "general" subject than suits the Women At War section of the forum...

    Recently, in an ill-tempered Sealion period thread on AHF, it was brought to my notice that there may have been a considerable number of women in uniform in the prospective invasion areas of Sussex and Kent in 1940!

    Specifically - I came across the ATS-"manned" 20 MD Coy stationed at Shorncliffe Heights with the RASC...and prior to DYNAMO, HMS Wasp at Dover had some 42 Wrens on the staff there.

    What I'd like anyone with any other information on women in the services in Sussex and Kent in July-September 1940 to append the name of the formation/unit/barracks/posting here so I can investigate further. It doesn't matter how sketchy, I'll follow up any and all hints to draw up a full picture of this situation!
