Gp Capt Ron Powell has, after a career in the RAF, taken to writing books. As Gp Capt University Air Squadrons, he was my Boss before he retired prematurely in 2005. His book, Wings Over Summer, is a Battle of Britain novel dedicated to Plt Off H L (Laurie) Whitbread, a Spitfire pilot of No 222 Sqn shot down by a Messerschmitt Bf109 on 20 Sep 1940.

The Kindle edition is 99p. It gets good reviews from those who have responded.

I've just finished reading it - I enjoyed it. A couple of events had me thinking back to scenes in the film 'Battle of Britain'; I'm still not sure if it was a good idea or not; however, it didn't detract from the story. Notwithstanding, especially for 99p, well worth a pop.
