Apparently he was gassed in WW1 which affected his health for the rest of his life however he still wanted to enlist and do his bit in ww2.
Apparently he was gassed in WW1 which affected his health for the rest of his life however he still wanted to enlist and do his bit in ww2. There cannot be many soldiers that served in all the three conflicts. A wonderful record of achievement. I can well understand the ill health after being gassed, as my Grandfather was gassed in WW1 and suffered very badly in his last two years. Passing away at 42 yrs of age, 10 years before I was born. Regards Tom
There cannot be many soldiers that served in all the three conflicts. Another man who served in all 3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Scott_(VC)

What an interesting service record! I had a quick look for him on Ancestry (borrowed my brother's account, naughty) I struggled with the surname, as you can imagine there are many Robinson's. I did find the 2nd AC Horse Rolls in Military Campaign Medals and Awards. Everyone with service numbers either side of William's 408 but no William! The images do not post well when I attached them to this post, the pixels blur out too much to view. Steve.

My work colleague was having her Grandfathers medals professionally mounted, so hopefully when they are completed I will post here!
