Some other threads which link into the above account
Lt. Cantlay was attached first with the 2nd Irish Guards & 5th Coldstream Guards group, and later with the Irish Group which consisted of 2nd Irish Guards & 3rd Irish Guards Battalions. He did support Coldstream Group and the Grenadier Group on a number of occasions also.

Cpl Leslie Webb mentioned as a casualty from 14 Field Squadron is my late uncle and I have been researching his story. He was killed during mine clearance work and at some time during the advance one of the bailey bridges was dedicated to his memory and named the Webb bridge. I am slowly working through the list of bridges built by the 14th Field to try and locate where it was. Any information would be greatly received.

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.
Unsure of just what documentation you have got so far for your research but the war diaries for your uncle's unit are available at Kew.

Have you applied to MOD for a copy of his service record already?

Jonathan Ball It's a way of life.

Had the pleasure of having Gordon's company on our Operation Market Garden Anniversary Tour just this last weekend. Gordon is 94 now but his memory is still razor sharp and I had no hesitation of handing him the microphone as we drove along Club Route. He was also kind enough to tell our Passengers that my information was 99.9% accurate which made my weekend.

Nice one JB :) . It's always lovely to hear from the Veterans-on my trip to Italy last year we had a Veteran called Fred who did exactly the same and sat up front and kept us amused with his stories. Priceless.
