Hi, thanks very much, My uncle William Jesse Claude Dearlove ran away from home in 1918 at the age of 14 and joined th army because he was caught by a policeman climbing a tree in tha local park, who took him home and informed his parents that he would have to appear in court for criminal damage to a tree, his father had to pay 5.00 fine for him not attending ( lot of money then) William was in the Royal signals corps or the Royal engineers. he died in Islamabad in 1977 so he must have stayed in India after he laft the army in about 1957ish he was in Fort Thai in 1935 as he sent my mother a photo. I will try and get his service no: Thanks again all.
Hi, I have some records but only serving in India 1942 -1957, although very sketchy nothing of any action he saw, mainly in admin 50s on. got those from British Library. I will try the Records place in Glasgow. I would like his life/service history from 1922 on. his step brother Reginald Alfred Dearlove met up with him whilst he to was serving in India in the 1930s 40s but that was the last he saw him. His first brother Reginald Alfred Dearlove -Royal Marines was killed in Archangel. Russia - Glory in the first world war at the age of 18.
