Could any member help with finding a WW1 service record for me please? I'm asking for a friend whose grandfather served in WW1. William Clegg DOB 7 December 1898 Royal Flying Corps Served in Egypt 1916 Lived in Warburton, an area to the South of Emley, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. She has no service number and hasn't got any medals. If anyone finds them, could they please PM me so as to keep it confidential. Thanks guys. Lesley
I'm on my travels at the moment Lesley. Not home till late tonight, in the meantime check your pm's in a moment. Kind regards, always, Jim.
I just wanted to give a BIG shout out to two members who have taken their time and effort to help with the above request. Thanks Jim (Herriot) for the service record and the link to the IWM newsreels and other info you supplied . Thanks go to Ross (RAFCommands) for sending me such detailed information from the service record and the excellent links which made his answers (to my daft questions!) much easier to understand. It never ceases to amaze me how helpful you guys are on the forum and thanks to both of you, my friend now has the information about her grandfather she never knew. She has asked me to pass on her grateful thanks for what you have done. Kind regards Lesley
A pleasure to help Lesley. And please remember the biggest part played in this was by you. You started the ball rolling to help your friend. Without your start your friend would not have the information that she has now. Helping out, trying to help, that, for me, is what the forum is all about. Kind regards, always, Jim. P.S.
