Why did he keep these. (Airborne)

Hi all
just been given a few bits, mostly 46-47 somE pictures are dated, included were these two links, I am afraid to say I have no idea what they are,or why anyone would keep them., I am sure somebody on here will know,

Hi Lofty,
Would it be possible for you to scan the Coy group photograph and repost it please. It looks similar to pictures i have of Ashwell camp where 2 Para reformed after Arnhem
The 2 links as you describe them are Apex ties, the last thing that breaks when your static line is fully payed out. Some blokes saved them!
