Common for any unit IDs to be obscured by the censor. No need to inadvertently help the enemy with locations or possible intentions. Subjective view, but it seems to intensify in DDay build-up shots, which might go with the solid secrecy around those events

The annoying part for posterity is that the emulsion on the original negative was usually either indelibly inked out or scraped off. Hence an ragged edged scratched look. This means that in most cases, uncensored versions don't exist.
Hi Yes I've seen pics of Op Manna with similar censorship. It is a tad annoying. But as they were of only battalion in Greece wearing lighter berets (than the rest who were RTR) it was quite easy to establish they were 11th KRRC. Gus
