In context, the Germans had the "Russian Front", the Russians had "Siberia" and these poor buggers got the Alaska run.

    The submarine bases protecting Alaska.

    The Forgotten Theatre.

The Forgotten Theater U.S. Submarine Operations in the Aleutians in World War II

    Aloha Everyone,

The Aleutian theater is often overlooked by students of WWII - Dutch Harbor, Adak, Attu, Kiska, the Battle of the Komandorski Islands.....truly a forgotten theater.

There are many places that are forgotten for one reason or another. They may not be headline news or overly important but they were to those who had to be there.

Like the Murmansk and Archangel runs on the convoys. Cold and lethal.
