I thought we already had a thread on this excellent TV series?

Back tonight (13/6/10) on BBC1 at 9.15 pm.

Tonights research is on Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex in the City fame. I suspect this one maybe rather interesting as I would think its very American History focused.

Paul - Will you be making a guest appearance in this series?

This is actually the US series; as you'll see the format is very different to the UK. I noticed the Guardian described it as being hit by a "Disney mallet"...

I did work on the Matthew Broderick episode (coming up next week?) as historical advisor and location consultant but for a number of reasons I won't bore you with, I am not in the actual film and I understand I get no credit in, which is poor but not unusual in TV.

Gimme a bucket, I wanted to puke .
    So bloody gushy & false.

Quite like the idea that they didn't know which bit of England, Samual Elwell came from. Pity he didn't fall over board & drown ont eh voyage over.

Quite liked the Salem bit though, as that is where we started our honeymoon , 15 years ago this month.

PS - I agree that Salem is a lovely place.

Careful chaps, we don't want this turning into an anti-colonial witchhunt. The mods don't like it. :p

    May I paraphrase ?

"Longstanding tradition here that discussing septic actresses always turns... errr... septic.
That probably stands for too much overt show-biz of a non-septic flavour too.

    Thread closed I'm afraid."-_-

I'm not scared of Jimbo. Dammit man, I miss him !

If there's one thing that I like better than trying it on with Administrators, it's extracting the proverbial from unsuspecting New Worlders.

I'm photoshopping a picture of you smashing up a P47 with a hammer marked 'Made in Syria'... just to seal the deal.

(BTW - The main reason that thread you refer to was killed was the title. One like that'd Google-attract slathering septic loons from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli.
Is that what you want? Is that what you really want. )

    Hi all

I enjoyed Matthew Broderick's, it was interesting.
Cant say the same for Sarah

Why do they have to recap after every ad though??
Pity they dont show medals or put a bit more interest on them, if I was one of them I would like to have/know about the medals my ancestor had

    regards

    Robert

Thankfully we had it on the BBC , no adverts.

I didn't find it especially mawkish.
To be honest I found much of the original (2?) series a bit too 'celebrity blubby' in places too.
(Except for Rolf Harris, his seemed more genuine/justified. And he's Rolf Harris.)

But then I'm firmly of the opinion that there's too much lachrymosity on Television of late.
    Mutter mutter mutter.

The Rolf Harris film wasn't part of WDYTYA, it was home made by BBC.
