Havent bothered watching the last two, didnt even watch last weeks on the iPlayer. Think I've gone off it a bit now to be honest. We watched Grand Designs instead on Channel 4.
Sorry, but how boaring was that. fell asleep half way though, did it get any better in the second half ? But, if your into Jamacian political history i suppose it would be quite interesting Rob
Quite interesting about JB. I didn't know his family paid quite a large roll in Jamacia. I only have it on now as background TV just in case something WW2 related comes on :p
WDYTYA John Bishop on tonight BBC1 9pm (last in series) John Bishop famously changed career from pharmaceuticals sales director to stand-up comedian. John is surprised to discover that he's not the only person in his family to have made extraordinary career choices. He is astonished when he finds out what his great great grandfather, Charles Bishop, ended up doing. He also investigates what happened to another great great grandfather, who became a prisoner of war in the Crimea Lesley

I thought it one of the most interesting so far. He was obviously moved by finding that GG father Charles had joined the army at 14, gone to Canada where he married a soldiers daughter, then to Bermuda when in the band - nice joke about him playing the triangle - and then as Lay Vicar at Chichester and York cathedrals before joining a minstrel music hall act and performing in many of the theatres that John has, albeit 120 years earlier! Even discovered some music he had written... Enjoyed it.
One of the best programmes in this excellent series, made more so by seeing my dad standing next to Tom Darling in the photograph of the QOCH 1941 Sgt mess! unfortunately he died before seeing it or me being able to ask him more about that time. My dad later served as Adjutant with the 7th Gurkha Rifles in Malaya in the 60,s, I wonder if he knew there was a park to commemorate Tom Darling there? I will never know.
Hi Minden 1759 Yet another strange coincidence as Minden was my first posting in 1986, with 4 ADTR. My dad was in the 1st Battalion, C company in 1940, I have added his account of that time in the 1940 forum section under the Battalion name. There is mention of fellow Cameron's in that account and It would be good to maybe here from family relatives mentioned. Thanks for the interest. Regards Alex.

Interesting re Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth Garden City Welwyn Garden City (WGC), as its name suggests, is a garden city, founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in the 1920s following his previous experiment in Letchworth Garden City, and designed by Louis de Soissons. Howard had called for the creation of new towns of limited size, planned in advance, and surrounded by a permanent belt of agricultural land, as a role model for lower-density urban development. Howard believed that such Garden Cities were the perfect blend of city and nature. http://www.welwyngarden-heritage.org/ http://letchworthgardencity.com/ http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Howard+&GSfn=Ebenezer&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=21569185&df=all&
I thought it was very interesting, although not war related. Uncanny how the Rowntrees Factory was linked to her and both her families. Lesley
I wonder if chocolate is a theme here - Una Stubbs with Dairy Box and Marianne Faithfull with Mars Bars?! Good Bye Ruby Tuesday...
