    Dear members,

I am very interested in finding out about ''Gen, Ian Bell'' who was also supposed to be a ''Nazi Hunter''. I was told he wrote a book post WWII on ''nazi hunting''. While there is a clip of the ''Gen'' being interviewed for a doc on Youtube, I have never been able to find a trace of him. Can anyone help on this please.
    thankyou:)

The book I believe is `No Place to hide’ by Ian Bell, Minerva Press London 1998. ISBN-10: 0754102815
Captain Bell was also interviewed about his work and sighting/allegations of Bormann`s alledged escape in the Granda television documentary series ,’War stories’.
The programme, ‘Nazi Hunter’deals with Bell’s experiences as a Prisoner of War, and later as part of thewar crimes commission.
Captain Ian Bell (British Army and War Crimes Investigator) was once, I believe, considered for a front page story in the `Victor` comic book but the fact that as a POW he was tortured and had his teeth extracted with pliers in an attempt to make him talk was deemed to be a little too graphic for the young readers. He was also stood in front of a firing squad, but was reprieved.
Hear it from the man him self;-

Ian Bell served with Royal Engineers in North Africa. He was captured, escaped and worked with Italian partisans. Recaptured by Germans and POW in Germany until 1945. Post-War he worked with the War Crimes Investigation Unit tracking Nazi and Italian war criminals

Sorry no idea perhaps an enquiry at the IWM might be fruitful? I am aware he did a recorded interview for them unfortunately the audio on the IWM site is down for the moment.

Hi, I know this is very late in the day (your post from nearly 10 years ago!) but i have met Ian myself when i was younger. He became friends with my Grandmother, Mother and Aunt some years ago and we visited on occasion to his home in Norwich (if i remember correctly!) where we met him and his Wife. He also visited my parents home on the Wirral much later however I'm sad to report he died somewhere around 2005-8 - I can provide more specific details if necessary. I can however confirm his book is 'No Place to Hide' and its a great read! Hope this information hasn't arrived too late!
