Let's say you were given the choice of being born into either an american or russian family in 1950, which would you guys choose and why? -Thanks (I know it might seem a little off topic, but everything has a purpose), help is needed and appreciated-
I can think of no reason whatever, either material or idealistic, why I would want to be born into a Russian family in 1950. In America, I would be free-er and richer. If I had a problem with the American way of life, or the way America related to the rest of the world, at least I would be free to dissent or to drop out. Adrian
The coice of 1950 seems to me to make this a cold war topic and I cannot quite see how it relates to WWII. As far as I am concerned, one of the pleasures of this forum is that we don't do cold war East v West rants here. Actually, the topic is not quite that simple. Personally, there is a lot of literature I would like to be able to read in the original Russian.
Has to be America for me...........for a start I don't speak Russian....in fact I only know one Russian phrase & that can't be used in polite conversation.................strange question to ask so I'm curious as to the reasoning behind it
