    Hi Guys,

I'm sure that you have an abundance of leads for this, but what was the typical British Army uniform on D Day?

This is for a new picture that I'm composing

    Cheers

    Soren

These are the ones that always spring to mind for me; two Classic shots of Fusilier Tom Payne displaying his gear:

In case you're also looking for more permanent reference Soren, I reccomend Jean Bouchery's 'The British Soldier from D-Day to VE-Day'. It's full of modern colour pictures of kit being worn and well reproduced contemporary shots, I'd have thought it would be as good artistic reference as it is for general uniform queries. It's in 2 volumes at c.£15-20 each but the first alone gives you all the uniform and personal equipment reference.
Amazon.co.uk: From D-Day to Ve-Day: The British Soldier: Uniforms, Insignia and Equipment Pt. 1: Jean Bouchery: Books

Amazon.co.uk: 1944-45 British Soldier: From D-Day to V-Day: Organisation, Weapons and Vehicles Pt. 2 (From D Day to Ve Day Vol 2): Jean Bouchery: Books

(Amazon currently flogging them for £33 the pair. ;) )

    Cheers,
    Adam.
