I watched Yellow Canary on i-player with Richard Greene. Not seen it before and thought it was cheesy enough but still enjoyable.
If it counts I introduced some of my fellow World of Tanks players to Kelly's Heroes last week. We'll finish it this week and will probably watch other war movies following but no idea which as yet.
This afternoon I watched the last disc of “The Band of Brothers” collection again. Haven’t seen it in it’s entirety in about 10 years I reckon. Took about a week to take it all in, a few episodes here, one there, another one later on, etc. Hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since it was released. It holds up well.
Anybody know how to watch Battle for the Scheldt in the UK? Couldn't find it on Netflix, so is it not streaming here yet?
It is a Dutch production and just came out in the Dutch Cinema's (after a long delay due to Corona) ... I have no idea if and when it will come out abroad.
Rather dense and heavy but fascinating for those of us who like history: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000x8mb/world-war-ii-behind-closed-doors-episode-1
Dave55, Ah, the BBC and copyright. I do recommend the book upon which the TV series is based: World War II Behind Closed Doors: Stalin, the Nazis, and the West by Laurence Rees. There is a thread on the book: World War Two. Laurence Rees
It may, with any luck, pop up on Amazon Prime or Netflix, which is where I fortunately managed to catch ‘April 9th (9.April)’, ‘The Resistance Banker (Bankier Van Het Verzet)’ and an excellent Finnish film that was so excellent that I can’t now recall whether it was ‘Winter War (Talvisota)’ or ‘The Unknown Soldier (Tuntematon Sotilas)’.
I’ve also just saved to my Amazon Prime list, but yet to watch, “The 12th Man” (Den 12.Mann), the amazing story of Norwegian Jan Baalsrud, which looks and reads like it should be a very good film. The 12th Man (2017) - Video Gallery - IMDb
I was surprised and happy that I can fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally watch Ice Cold in Alex via Hoopla Digital which I get some access to every month via the local library. I'm an hour in and enjoying it, of course. (Even though I am continually perplexed by the 50 year old John Mills playing characters who should have been in their 20s or 30s!) They also have Went the Day Well and I'm looking forward to that! edit: Yeah, I really liked Ice Cold in Alex Aside from everything else, it was great to see dealing with the desert and its hazards so well portrayed.
Great film. As chance would have it, but no use to you Chris, of course, Talking Pictures TV here are showing it on Saturday at 6.35pm.
