Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Watched my favourite Christmas war film again for the umpteenth time.

"Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence" with Tom Conti and David Bowie.

A film I never get bored of.

The Military Channel has been re-playing, for the 348th time, the terrible stinker called Windtalkers. It doesn't help an already bad movie that possibly the very worst actor of our time, Nicholas Cage, is in in the title role.

Just watched The Railway Man which was a very good film. Interesting to see the similarity with the film (To End All Wars) based on Ernest Gordon's book/experiences especially the post-war forgiveness, although they suffered differently at the hands of the person they eventually befriended.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin. My two daughters were watching it this afternoon when I got in from work. Penny Cruz is always worth a watch, what ever the film. :)

Not to bad if you ignore the awful "Me109" and "German" tank scene.
They must gone to a lot of trouble in getting the Mosquito's built. Why couldn't they do the same for the German equipment.
I suppose that was asking a lot for 1969

The last WWII film/series I saw was "Fury," the tank movie. The tanks and the actors were good, the script spotty to say the least.

I saw Unbroken last weekend. Some flaws but overall, a good effort and compelling.

Not quite WW2, but watched The Wipers Times last night.
It appealed to my warped sense of humour.

    Watched "The Brest Fortress"

A Russian film about the defence of Brest Fortress which took place between the 22–29 June 1941. It was one of the first battles of Operation Barbarossa. The Brest Fortress, defended by the Red Army against the Wehrmacht, held out longer than expected and, after the Second World War had finished, became a symbol of Soviet resistance. In 1965 the fortress received the title of Hero Fortress for the 1941 defense.

You can find a subtitled version on youtube I would recommend it

Recently bought an Amazon Firestick which gives access to some notable movies, new & old.

Early this morning I watched Sam Medez's "Jarhead", one that I never saw when it was first released.

I was fascinated to see the marines firing off their weapons into the sky at the end of the campaign.

This is exactly what we did in Italy at the close of the fighting ..... wonderful stuff and I am still on a high after seeing it !!!!

Ah ! The late, great and much missed Ray Hanna, founder member of the Red Arrows and Ace Spitfire pilot. Here's another example of his amazing skill...(probably NSFW for swearies!)
