    Could it be a Wellington?

I was lucky enough to meet on a few occasions in the local village where I grew up, Capt. William Foxley, who survived a Wellington crash, but was badly burnt, and was a member of the guinepig club.

Wellington had twin or was it four 303s in the back turret.

It looks like that Russian jobby, or Japanese -single rear gun?

Adrian got it right with a Petlyakov Pe-8. Therefore he has the next question.

Thanks - but it was twenty to one in the morning before I got to this - I'll think of a question tomorrow!

In the meantime - try and imagine what it was like firing a 20mm cannon in the confined space of a Pe-8 rear turret!

What type is represented in this artist's impression?

(He has taken liberties with the engine type, but it was a real aircraft)

Safe to say it's one of the Short jobbies but which one!

I'll fall into the trap and go for a short sunderland!

A Short sunderland that the artist has forgotten needs 4 engines not two.
