Thanks for the 'push' into motivation Owen and VP......and as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained :)

and sorry for stepping into your thread Tom, I'll let you all get back on with the more strategic 'what if' question/answers now

    Hi Suz

I felt the exactly the same as you do when I joined the forum, as have many of the members on here. I'm sure I asked some daft questions too, but you are doing the right thing-reading the threads that interest you-that way you will find your areas of interest and feel able to participate sometimes.

I was scared to death replying to threads when I started my research, knowing everyone would be reading them and thinking I didn't know anything-well they all had to start somewhere too-and generally we're not a bad bunch  (except when Owen's in a bad mood, he can be a bit of a pedant at times, don't let him put you off, he's a pussycat really  ).

So my message to you Suz is, if you've a query, post it in the correct area and go for it. There are no daft questions, just daft answers

A lot of us felt the same way, but took the plunge. I'm not embarrassed to admit I'm still learning... http://ww2talk.com/forums/topic/25101-what-have-you-learned-about-ww2-recently/

    Come on Suz, start asking.

See, some what-if's can lead to revelations.

How about we leave the original poster to ask what ever question he pleases even a "What if...." then those who want to contribute can whilst the rest either post on a topic which interests them ?
You do realise everyone here has contributed to a "What if we did What ifs......" thread :D.

Perhaps the mod could weed out the none relevant (to the original question) and relegate the rest (including this) to the "Barracks" ?

Couldn't agree more...A new member recently contacted me after asking for help regarding his fathers service records. He didn't want to post anymore after someone told him they were quite simple to understand and they felt as though they should understand them.

I to can relate to Lesley's post, thought I was asking a silly questions and at first. But with help from the forum guys with facts it stopped the speculation/ what if scenario.

    David

PS What question do you want to ask.....? Or is that a silly question ha ha .......
