An interesting thought, and I think only given minor coverage. What if Churchill had supplied troops to Finland and Finland hadn't capitulated when it did. Would Britain have ended up fighting alongside Germany or independant fighting both Germany and Russia. May have got lines crossed lines on this, - but what if one of these scenarios happened? Or do you think we could have only offered token support, ultimately just putting off the inevitable if one looks back in hindsight?
The plan for allied intervention in Finland was underway when the Winter War ended. Had it proceeded as planned I cannot see how we could have avoided war with the Soviet Union. But Stalin obviously wanted the war with Finland to be over, maybe the intelligence that the Allies were serious was a factor in his willingness to end the war when he did. Steve
