Not sure if this has been done before.

If you could, what historical event would you like to attend?

For myself - the German surrender of WW2

For my part, it would have to be any of the sqn briefings held before the bombing of Dresden

First day of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising - just to see the Germans' faces when the Jews fought back.

There are many that i want to attend and because no one said that they must be only for ww2:
When the Bulgarians defeat the Holy Crusaders, the Liberation of Bulgaria 1878,The entering of our Russian brothers on Bulgarian soil 1877 and 1944,the defeat of the US in Vietnam

I would also say D-day (or Iwo Jima/Okinawa landings) or the surrender of the Germans.

For me it would be the ability to recapture that intense feeling of joy and exhilaration I had along with others when the war ended in Europe. Some of that joy tingled with sadness is recaptured here BBC - Radio 4 - Coming Home

There are five programmes of 45 minutes each, the whole series is well worth listening to. I'm in the second, 'Home Again', broadcast on Tuesday 10 May.

Should you listen, it starts after the end of the news and some announcements. Charles Wheeler refers to me as a 10 year old boy, but I was about to turn 15 when it ended.

Sidi Nsir, Tunisia, 26th Feb 1943. The day my Grandfather was captured. Reason being; It would go along way into answering the remaining questions I have on my Grandfather's army service.

16th/17th may 1943. I want to be sat on top of on of the valley hills looking down into the Mohne reservoir and watch the Dam Buster raid. Other than that D-Day and Arnhem. Just to be with my uncle when he was mortally wounded.

The Battle of Midway, the turning point in the Pacific, at least in the war at sea, and a bit of payback for Pearl.

Even though my dad was in North Africa, I feel I would have had a great feeling being on Missouri for the signing of the Japanese surrender.

Looking directly into the eyes of those that condoned the inhumane treatment of not only POW's but also the little children, women and men of their occupied countries.

These acts were perpetrated in other theatres however this was closer to home for me as I knew POW's who were the guests of the Japanese and saw first hand the breakdown of the family unit in the decades that followed through mental breakdown and alcoholism.

In the context of WWII, to watch the Battle of Kursk unfold would have been awe-indpiring and terrifying at once; and for sheer jingoism and bravado, I'd tag along with MacArthur's return to the Phillipines.

In the broader sweep of history, I'd love to have witnessed the signing of the Declaration of Independence or sat next to Francis Scott Key to watch the bombardment Fort McHenry. Or perhaps, witness the Battle of Poitiers. Sorry to be indecisive, too much history to choose from! :)
