Very disappointed that view new posts seems to have gone in new setup. When I click on new posts it just lets me look at what posted in last 24 hours which as I only have time to come on weekly is useless.

This seems to me to be a hugely retrograde step.

I also find new introductory screen very confusing and cluttered.

Sorry - I think old software was better!

Being the administrator of the board I need to look beyond the small and insignificant to provide a wholly better platform.

Rather than offering some totally negative comments all you had to do was make a suggestion to have it changed and I would have.

So before you go off on one take some time to have a bit more consideration for the time and thought that has went into this project to make the site much better for everyone for a long time to come.

    Hi Lee

I am very sorry that you find my concerns "small and insignificant". To me they are not because, given the enforced infrequency with which I visit, use of the Forum without a "view new posts" facility is extremely difficult.

Sadly, I shall cease visiting as a result of this, as I simply do not have the time to wade through looking for new posts.

I am sorry that the spirit of accomodation and friendliness which (on the whole) characterises the Great War Forum has not spread in quite the same way here.

    Cheerio!

Simon, if you get to read this give a little thought to the time and effort Lee puts in on a voluntary basis to provide the forum.

All he is asking is that you be a bit less demanding and make your suggestions and requests a bit friendlier. I know hw will try and help if you do. You didn't come across as a person I would go out of my way to help when you posted.

The reasons for change were highly significant for the needs of a growing forum, although we as members did not necessarily see the problems which existed with the old software.

When you make such changes, it does take time to tweak the settings to get them just right - and that is what it mainly involves, changing settings, but Lee might have a list of these he needs to work through.

I too, as usually a more frequent user of the forum, would like a longer period setting. On the other hand, I have just been away from the boards for over a week and abandoned checking the GWF at about page 4 because it was getting tedious. So what is the balance?

I am sure Lee will be pleased to help - when he gets the time!!!!

As I pointed out, all it would have taken was a suggestion to make the change which I would have added to my list, rathern than being all negative.

Many users have different things they would like and thats fair enough. The great war forum for example which is an excellent resource chooses to stick with the standard invision install, which suits their needs.

I on the other hand tend to go for the unique looking site, with various features to support all members. This meant moving to Vbulletin as its a far superior board than invision.

As Angie pointed out, its all about tweaking until we get to a point where everyone is happy.

The changes you requested Simon are in the Q and will be addressed.

Anything new takes a while to get use to. Don't give up on it simon. It will take a while for things to settle down and get to a point where everyone is happy.
Lee has done an outstanding job changing the software over.;)

I'm sure everyone would be happy to acknowledge the work put in to make this forum what it is. I am also sure that if any requests or enquiries are voiced as such, rather than demands or complaints they would be handled when time allows. This is after all a free and non-commercial site and any work is done on a voluntary basis.

That should always be taken into account and even more so after such great changes and a time when there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.

Clear example of someone who doesn't have children.

Bottle feedings of milk for a newborn.

It is nice to see that there is one man at least who takes his turn with the sleep loss.

I have 3 children and was very lucky that all of them slept all night from about 6 months old.

Where's the love? Where's the love? You know, there must be some principle were appreciation is inverse to effort to please.

For what it's worth Lee, anyone that does this kind of thing for nothing in return are a tremendous counterbalance to all the bad folks in the world. Thanks buddy.

Oh, by the way can you fix this list of things....:p

I get a kick out of space invaders the last time I played was in 1982 when we were in High School. We used to play for pizza, too young for pints.
