    A few words of explanation...
I had often looked at the 'Top 10 Posters' list at the right hand side of the 'Portal' page and wondered who 'Kitty' was among all the other familiar names and why such a prolific poster had just stopped.
The other night I returned home late from a rather heavy night out and sat down to check the latest posts when my eye once again fell upon 'Kitty 4989' and I began to dig through some old threads in search of the mysterious 'Kitty'. Then I had a brainwave (never to be trusted at 3am after a night on the slosh) I thought - "I'll ask!" - hence this thread was conceived - or rather 'ill conceived'.
It was never my intention to cause offence to any members, past or present.
Thankfully, as Ron Goldstein noted, some good did come of it and some members were prompted to say how much they valued this forum.

In his wisdom Ron has created a much better venue for these sentiments than this somewhat dubious thread and I hope his will run and run while this one hopefully dies quietly with no further upset or intrigue.
    Sincerely,
    Tom.

Tom, there is no problem at all. You asked, I hope we answered and it is cheering to read the many comments here.
