At the risk of opening old wounds I would really like to know why Kitty's contributions stopped after 4989 posts (still listed as one of the highest contributers).
Was it something to do with this old thread?:

    Hi Tom,

I believe she left and went to another forum. Look at it like Star Wars with the old Alliance.

    :D

Kyt and Kitty were different members. Used to be mods here but they decided to leave the forum.

Actually I miss Kitty. Used to enjoy her banter.

    Just don't go there....
People have their own reasons for leaving a forum.
Why do we need to talk about this in public?

This is all old hat, before my time and I have to say it doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Way I see it people come and go for different reasons, and plenty have returned after a break.

Far as I can see we are all having a grand time here regardless: let's not poke a stick in this. I don't see the point. :)

And that's why you were asked to be a mod. :) ;)

If I can put a positive spin on it: I've very much enjoyed my albeit short time here, I can't think of one post in the past few months that has even slightly annoyed me. I like the cameraderie, and the helpful atmosphere. I've moderated on a forum that had some serious problems at times (we're talking police, legal issues, fraud, hell angels and all sorts!).

Having been here longer than most, I can only say that the positive way this forum has moved on in the past couple of years since Otto bought it is way beyond my personal expectations. The early years were troubled with numerous owners and tech problems which the Mods were not in a position to sort. That technical side of things is in very safe hands now both at the ownership and admin level.

One thing we should all be proud of - because every active member here has been a part of it - is that this site has clearly become the location for those with a serious research interest in WW2. We can easily judge this by the number of authors and TV related people we see coming on here for help, and the number of people asking family history questions on a site where 'experts' are seen to reside. We have an incredible and generous knowledge base here that is not rivalled anywhere else, and long may that continue.

But members do come and go. We can't really answer why one member no longer wants to contribute, but it does happen. But when I look back on some members posts I don't think they would feel at home here any more... the site has moved on and their style and level of contribution has been left behind. That happens with any forum, really.

    Well said Paul.

Perhaps it's time to delete the 'off topic' forum and go a level higher ?-_-

This is like any other board in that people arrive, spend time here, contribute and then for whatever reason, they decide to move on. It happens. Just like life. People come into your life, they stay, they go. C'est la vie. I like this spot. It does what it say on the tin, Wanna talk WW2? Then come on in and be welcome!

Don't even get me started on Kyt... GRRRRRRr:icon_fork: a preacher of tolerance for others, then he left because *GASP* a North American bought the joint. I'm left to wonder where he is posting now, since it looks as though he was banned from the new gig, where he was the Admin.

One interesting thing about Otto, the North American, is that he lived a large portion of his formative years in....Australia. But Kyt couldn't be bothered with sticking around to find that out or to see if the place was going to be overrun with 'red necks' [sic], as he feared. Your loss, Bucko.

The only bad aspect of the whole thing was the affect it had on the posts of you Spidge. I hated to see you not as involved as you had been. :)

Okay, Adam, bin it if you wish.:D

I like this forum. I am allowed to sit quietly in the corner and learn alot from members whose knowledge and experience never fails to amaze me. We don't have flame wars, trolls or an over abundance of "what if " threads that really are just fantasy .
Its a bit like my favourite pub.Long may it remain so....

    To put life in perspective

    A quote from Benjamin Franklin

"I confess that there are several parts of this constitution which I do not at present approve, but I am not sure I shall never approve them: For having lived long, I have experienced many instances of being obliged by better information, or fuller consideration, to change opinions even on important subjects, which I once thought right, but found to be otherwise. It is therefore that the older I grow, the more apt I am to doubt my own judgment, and to pay more respect to the judgment of others."

    A quote from me.

WW2talk is a fine site with a whole bunch of very knowledgeable diverse persons which not only enhances our knowledge it keeps the history alive .Members are like minded and fair minded and always willing to assist and support.

    Lets move it on
