what does this mean...?..

    Hi there can someone please tell me what....... do........... stands for?........its on the last column under remarks section..thank you

    It means "ditto". As in "same as the above". Go to the entry before "do"

    do stands for ditto - you may recall using the abbreviation " when something on this line is the same as the line above

    Have you found some information to suggest that he was Reconnaissance Corps? The badge in your other post wasn't Recce but that does not necessarily mean anything as soldiers often transferred between different units - that is why we always suggest getting their service records which will reveal all. It will ensure that you search the correct person. Have you requested them?

    According to the above J Bowling had service number 3392073 which would make his original regiment

    East Lancashire Regiment 3377001 - 3433000

    BUT service records will confirm or deny this - patience is a virtue

    thank you for your reply. I'm waiting on my grandad service records to come .i saw j.bowling on a list I posted earlier. i was just browsing threw one day and this came to my attention.
