One shopkeeper was threatened with arrest for displaying a toddler's T-shirt in his shop window that had the slogan: "Winner of the egg and sperm race." Police said they had received a complaint and told Tim Price the garment was offensive and would have to be removed from the window of his clothes shop in Brighton.
Strewth, who on earth are these people that complain?
Mrs Trellis is still amongst us...

Why am I not surprised, although I am free with my use of the English language, I would find some tee-shirts offensive.

The one in the article I find quite funny :)

    Hi

I thought the wording on the child's Tshirt was brilliant, and for the life of me cannot see how that was offensive!

Have to confess though, that I hate seeing swear words, for no other reason than that these words become more and more accepted as common parlance. The pithy sayings that they are usually part of can be just as funny with the offending word **** out.

As to who complains ....... I'm sure that sadly we all know some of them.

    Cheers

On my t-shirt? Tomato ketchup, chip grease, fag ash, and what looks like a drop of spilled Guinness.

The stupid thing is that the police don't even have to have received a complaint. They only have to "think it might offend a hypothetical third party".

That leaves the whole thing up to the interpretation of the policeman on the street. Some football tops are 'offensive' to some and a T-shirt supporting a political party may be 'offensive' to another. If it's all down to the perception of what someone else will find offensive it's not very well thought out at all.

    Jim,
Spilling Guinness is just plain carelessness.

You want WEIRD on T-shirts?!! Go peruse this site!

    Welcome to Engrish.com!

Try the "Adult Engrish" section. It is off the wall weird....

I also suggest the "Instructions" section for those who are modellers or do it yourselfers. You will have a stroke trying to figure them out.....
