this. Very very good, couldnt put it down. A good insight into British tanks. Interesting stuff. Stuart is an officer with a tank section, lots of info, not loads about tactics, but plenty of action and often scary stuff. The Stuff on DD drive Sherman very interesting. Very complimententry of the US infantry soldier. Nothing but praise for the GI's. recomended to most of you, but especially the AFV heads.
Just started this. Also Club Route in Europe that I got from eBay for about a Tenner. Not bad for a 60 year old book. Will have to keep an eye out for laufer's book on 1 Pol Armd Div and kfz's choice.
This too. These are all on offer in Borders. Whole series of them are ony 3 quid each, ive been snapping them up. Good overview, loads and loads of pics and nnot sthe standard stock footage either. Not exaclty a coffe table book but one you can dip in and out of. Kev

Takes you back to teenage reads doesn't it? In my opinion 'The bloody road to death' is one of the best.... though they're all pretty much the same... bit of a nostalgiac vogue amongst my mates at the moment for completing the set.
Oh teenage reading. Didn't go much on Sven, read a few Leo Kesslers. My favs were the James Rouch books, Gateway to Hell, Tiger, War Machines and the Zone series (WW3).

Another one I remember from ALL those years ago. The Diary of a Desert Rat Author: Crimp, R. L. edited by Alex Bowlby. Published by London: Pan, 1974 1st ptg. thus.. 210pp. paperback: Good [covers are a bit age darkened & creased; text is age browned; old store stamp inside front cover; else a nice complete & tight copy] The author's private journal of his service with a single battalion of British light infantry from July 1941 to May 1943.. Just gone and bought it on eBay for 50p.

Good books - read them many years ago; the WW3 titles were especially good. I had quite forgotten the author - so thanks for the reminder!
Currently re-reading some of the Battlezone books in preparation for my two weeks in Normandy this summer. Really superb titles, full of detail. See: http://www.ddaycasualties.com/battlezone.htm
