Thanks for posting this Roy. I have been researching the coaster Glen Tilt's movements during Operation Aerial and discovered recently that she evacuated men of fighting age from Guernsey to Weymouth on the 21/22 June 1940. According to the Glen Tilt’s log book they departed Guernsey at 17.20 on 21 June arriving some 24 hours later at Weymouth on 22 June at 18.10. I found an article posted on the Commando Dad Blog - from June 2020, which provided details of this: "76 years ago yesterday my granddad, Teddy Williams, took part in the D Day landings. A Guernsey man, he joined up in June 1940 with five of his colleagues from the Guernsey Press . They caught the Glen Tilt (it was ferrying men of fighting age to the mainland to sign up) to Weymouth , from where they were taken to Portland Barracks. My granddad joined the Cornwall Light Infantry, took the oath and received 3s and 6d."
Thanks John, As you will know Glen Tilt made three voyages to Weymouth: 16th from St Malo, 19th from Alderney and, as you say, 21st from Guernsey. Roy
