Were Suicide Pills Issued to British Troops on D Day?

There may be nothing in this or a misunderstanding along the line of hearsay back to these veterans.

Two D Day veterans apparently told my contact after the war that they both were issued with suicide pills before embarkation. One was a Royal Engineer when went in on the first wave to clear beach mines. He said half his unit were killed not by gun or rifle fire but by mine explosions. He and another D Day veteran said they were issued with suicide pills. I have not been able to substantiate this story and I have an open mind.

Crikey, should have checked the Forum before posting. See this link. Apologies for possibly wasting your time, but may be I sparked interest. I believe the suicide pills used by the German hierarchy were British
