I am new to this, so here it goes. I am looking for any information in regards to my Relative 413050 Flight Sergeant James Gordon Wade, RAAF. He was the pilot of a Wellington mk.X LN 466 that crashed in Italy on the 24/11/43. He was with the 142 Squadron. My understanding is the aircraft crashed in to a Mountain approximately 3 miles from Issime. This was due to bad weather, as per radio communications. His remains with the rest of the crew was initially buried at Issime and a few years later re- buried in plot 6 row B, Grave 6, in the Malan British Empire Cemetery as a group grave. There was additional 2 Australians and 2 British personal on board, they were: 410323 Sergeant Albert Clive Glenwright, RAAF. Age21. 415664 Flight Sergeant Jack Frederick Knapp, RAAF.Age23. 1392140 Flight Sergeant Eric Walter Lawrence, RAFVR. (Navigator/Air Bomber.) Age21. 933794 Sergeant Kenneth Ross Carter, RAFVR. (Wireless Operator/Air Gunner.) I am after any British documents in regards to operations that he flew, pictures of the aircraft and crew as I am in Australia any photo’s of his final resting place and of the crash site would be great also. As I am currently tracing the family tree. Hope some one out there can help me out.

I found this wreck, identified it and wrote a book about this search and the story of this plane's last flight! Write me back, I will be more than happy to share all this with you, of course. Thanks very much for contacting me... Even without knowing me and my book! Marco

I found many original documents, from diaries and chapters to ORBs, and of course local sources, concerning the crash site. I published some videos on YT, showing the last course of the plane: Cresta del Monte Crabun - YouTube A video just from under the crash site, created on August, 2010: Operation Pointblank. Towards the crash site.MOV - YouTube Or, this year, from the crash site on Mount Voghel (Dame di Challand' mountain group): Ricerca sul Monte Voghel - Operation Pointblank. Bombardamenti alleati nel Nord-Ovest - YouTube This last video also shows a geodetic joint and other interesting parts from the wreck. Unfortunately, this place is already covered by snow and we are waiting for a large storm front, tomorrow night, so I think that the next research ascents will have to wait until 2012. In the end, this is the cover of my book: Marco Soggetto I tried to find a British or English-writing editor, but it was all vane. The book is, of course, in Italian.

I do have a 2.2 MB photo but cannot upload it here as it exceeds the download limit so have posted the resized version. Let me know your email address in a PM and I will send it to you. Cheers Geoff

Yes, this is the Milan War Cemetery, Cascina Bellaria, not so far from here (I am working in Milan, this morning). A nice and quiet place.
