Here are the loss details for Sgt. J E. Maddocks....... 12 October 1944 83 OTU Wellington X HE700 Op. Training Took off at 0125 hours from Peplow for a night cross-country. After acknowledging a recall signal sent due to worsening weather conditions the aircraft spun out of the cloud base and crashed at 0530 hours into a ploughed field at Narnerley Farm, Stoke Grange, just to the west of Ternhill airfield and 3 miles south west of Market Drayton, Shropshire Crew.
