Hello. I am new here. I think i am posting in the correct Place. I am doing Research on the German 29th mot. Div., aka "Falke Division" in Russia from from 1941-1944, trying to write a Book (Story) about it. I have found some Maps,
    Der Feldzug gegen Sowjet-Russland : Band I. Operationen Sommer-Herbst 1941 vom 21. Juni-6. Dezember 1941,
and various Information about its Structure, but what i can't find is which different parts of it were doing what, when, and where.
I know there are Books on the Subject, but they are expensive, and if at all humanly possible, i would like to just use free Resources (perhaps not a realistic Goal).

To find out what components were doing what and when you will need to access the books about the division and the war diaries in the archives. Other more broader brush type sources probably won't go in to the level of detail that you require. The online Russian archives have two files from the war diary for 1939-40. NARA is uploading a lot of files for free access but I haven't checked to see if that includes war diaries.

You might be able to gather some basics at some of the links within these links:

The interesting part for you should be between summer 1941 and winter 1942, when most of the division was destroyed in Stalingrad

In early ´43 the Division was reconstituted as 29. Panzergrenadier-Division:
In mid-June ´43, the entire division was transferred to southern Italy, later to Sicily, and from there took part in the entire retreat to the north.

Many Thanks to all of you for the Links and References. Hucks216, forgive my Ignorance, but would you be able to tell me what the Archives are that you mentioned in your first Post?

    Jabberwock,

    You asked:
No, I do not research the WW2 German Army. Others here do, some they may pop up and help. To be fair most of the forum's focus is not the German Army unless it is in direct contact with the British & Commonwealth forces.

There are a number of online sources when searched with "29th motorised division" and possibly more using "29th motorized division". There are no threads here on the division.

All right, thanks for the Information. I guess with the Brody Helmet as the Forum's Frontispiece i should have realised that.
