    Hi Philip,
Spoke to my aunt today, they ARE expecting bad weather tomorrow. Hope you weren't out in those hailstones!! Or at least you found a helmet from somewhere.:D

    Hi Jeff,
No not flooded just a wee bit boggy.
Gales misssed us thank goodness, but saw a sight today that I wished I had filmed. Some eejit had tied a banner, with no
perforations, between 2 lampposts. Never seen anything like the way those posts were bending and bouncing with the wind ... husband put the foot down to get away from under them. Having had trees fall down around us once before, we weren't hanging around.:(

    How's it with y'all?

    Diane

The most fantastic thunderstorm just passed over here (Leicestershire).
Crashing thunder instantaneous with the Lightning, massive hail, rain that's broken plants and flooded gutters.

And then, 10 minutes later - Gone.
Perfectly blue skies, with every car & house alarm on the street being the only trace, along with some dampness.

    I like thunderstorms...

Going to Northern Ireland for a week on Sunday. Weather forecast not looking too bright. Now do we go on the motorbike and get wet or wimp out and go in the car?! Any comments asap as I may have to change the ferry booking!

Thunderstorms can be tracked by strike, if a thunderstorm is in the area or on the way, where, when and number of strikes on Boltek Stormtracker. Suggest (Newport IOW for all of UK) - Black mountain? See it - it is going to rain, not see it? You are already getting wet!

    Von Poop - I don't particularly like thunderstorms !

Many years ago a thunderbolt hit the overhead electrics, blew up the telegraph pole before arching into the hamlet of Cottages where I live, then proceeded to blow up all TVs, electrical appliances, 'phone sockets etc. and finally with such force, sent me flying across the kitchen as I was touching our electric cooker.

I lived to tell the tale, but ended up in hospital with a stutter! Upon discharge was told that this stutter would pass, and that the electric surge that went through me would have done my joints good!

The 'old man' said that it was fortunate I was wearing rubber flip-flops at the time ... otherwise he'd have to buy another cooker !!!

All these years down the line I'm not that keen on thunderstorms and have come to respect them when they are directly overhead. However, from a safe distance, I do still today enjoy watching them.

I'm with Adam on this one. I love watching thunderstorms too.
We've had some violent storms over the past two nights which is typical after a hot, humid days (41C humidex today).

My brother-in-law also got hit by lightning on a camping trip. Thankfully, he only got a portion of the charge as it went through the root system of a large tree. Still enough to propel him 20 ft. through the air, knock him out cold and render him blind for 2-3 hours. He's been called Sparky ever since.

    3rd night in a row.

We are having a stupendous storm as I write this. Non-stop thunder and lightning.

Best advice really is to look at the weather forecast and make up your own mind from that. It'll wee down somewhere in the Province that's for sure.

    Hi Diane
Re-booked the ferry and going in the car! There's a fine line with motorbikes-it's either too hot, too cold, too windy, too dry, too wet..............!
Feels like spring again- 14 degrees and weeing down in East Yorkshire. Looking forward to the trip to Northern Ireland though.

Mid NI - cool , cloudy and no rain......yet.
(I am sick of rain, another summer when people are saying " we had that good fortnight in April" - I would like a good month in August!!).
