Cherry Lane Cemetery is under threat now that the Govt. has given the go ahead to 3rd runway at Heathrow The Cemetery, on Shepiston Lane, Harlington Middx. is an active, municipal burial ground , which has served Hillingdon since 1936. It is a multi faith cemetery which is used daily and is the home to many war graves and the EMI memorial, commemorating the lives of those workers who perished when a Doodlebug bomb landed on the canteen in 1944. It is the only cemetery with spaces within the Hillingdon Borough. If the plans go ahead a number of graves inevitably will be destroyed and the ones which will remain are going to be effected by the vibrations, pollution and noise from the proposed dual carriage way. This will cause irreversible damage to wildlife, erosion of gravestones and a loss of a peaceful area to mourn. I currently have 11 relatives buried in the cemetery and I wish to ensure that they are left in peace and I am able to use the cemetery to mourn, reflect and continue with the grieving process. Please sign our petition, it only takes a couple of minutes and would mean so much to the War Heroes that gave their lives so bravely and families that have loved one's buried there. Thanks and feel free to pass it on. Petition to: oppose the planned destruction of any part of Cherry Lane Cemetery and desecration of graves therein in favour of access roads being developed by BAA to accommodate the hugely unpopular Third Runway and Sixth Terminal at London Heathrow
I'm void as well. Its sickening thinking such things are happening, have you thought of any "physical" (aka not virtual) approaches? For instance, going in person to hand in the petitions, etc
Hi all Just to let you all know that on Wednesday 11th March we are presenting 20,000 signature petition to House of Commons. We have already submitted 8,000 in July, and we have 6,000+ on the electronic (PMs Govt.) site. We are also preparing for a march in London in May. Many thanks to all that have already signed, please pass our link on to others. Owen - More like an ex - Patsy - it has something to do with residency unlike the Halifax Building society with their 'Free" shares for going public - not a word about residency until time to pay out - then it became too "onerous" to send mine to me as I live in Canada - cost me $3000o (1200GBP at that time) been leery ever since.... Cheers
Is there anything we foreign citizens can do? Veterans, both with us and already gone, deserve respect!
Yesterday we submitted 22,000 signature petition to House of Commons. Total to date is 36,000 signatures. Does anyone know of other sites that I might be able to find support Thanks. Linda
