Was there an "Edward Ellis" in 2 Para during WW2?

Seaching for info on behalf of a friend.

    His grandfather was

    • Edward Ellis. Born in York on 21st April 1921.

The family believe he may have served with 2 Para during WW2... but have no idea if this was the case.

Does anyone have access to the wartime roll to be able to confirm this?

Otherwise, I'll recommend they write to the MOD Records branch (or whatever they're called).

    Thanks

You could suggest getting your friend to ask Airborne Assualt at Duxford for a check in their Ringway records...in theory if in 2nd Btn likely to have gone there for his parachute training....I believe they may charge for this service due to a need to raise funds!
His Army number would help as I guess Ellis is a relatively common surname......
