Just a bit more detail on the new Radio station for your information.

The station is hosted at live365, one of the biggest networks supplying live radio.

The account is a basic one so as you would imagine here are a couple of those pain in the but type issues.

Firstly the fee's are all paid up for this quarter so what I would say is the next three months are make or break, I dont have a problem funding the station if we get the listeners and if we get some volunteers to do some broadcasting or set up playlists.

Signing up to listen is very simple, just go to the site by clicking on the "on air" button in the homepage of this site and you will be taken to the "Wartime Radio" homepage, you will need to sign up which takes just a few seconds. Once done you can listen whenever you like, there is no cost and live365 is a completely secure and trusted site.

That said here is what I propose, currently I have an open broadcast license so I can play just about music on the site, so dont worry about copyrights, just tell me what you want to listen to it and I can play it!

If the radio takes off we can then upgrade to a professional version which allows direct streaming to this site which means nobody will need to sign up to listen, you will even be able to use windows media player, real one and others to listen. But lets take the first 3 months to see how it goes and try and get those visitors in to listen.

The limits of the account are as follows.

    Maximum Listeners allowed = 100
    Maximum live/relay broadcasters = 10

So we can have up to 100 listeners, but in live mode still up to 10 people on the air chatting.

Which brings me to the next point! The reason for using live365 is simplicity, you pay a lot more than shoutcast and others but they make it so simple to operate, I can literally go away from this post an dbe speaking on the air in less than 60 seconds, all you need is a microphone and to be logged into the broadcasting software.

So if you interested in doing your very own live broadcast let me know, a small piece of software and a microphone, 10 minutes to become familiar with the software and your on line, honestly there is no more to it :), hence the beauty of live365.com.

Again with my broadcasting license supplied with live365 you can even play the music you have in your cd colletion currently or on you pc in mp3 format.

You dont even have to do a live broadcast you can simply set up a play list of your favourite music of that era and let listeners tune in, its up to you.

Here now ends this huge post :)

    Regards

    Lee

The station has been live now for over two hours, and not a single glitch, so I would about sayu the station is ready for some proper schedules.

    Happy days!

    Wise1 There We Are Then

I have now uploaded over 150 tracks and set up a schedule (of sorts), quite a lot there to get started and I will do more shortly.

    Currently we have

All of Winston Churchills speeches uploaded
A portrait of Glenn Miller (46 tracks)
The best of the Army, Navy and RAF bands
A Selection of other tracks form various artists

Very surprised so far our ranking on live365 has went from 10,465 to 6,302 in just a few days, a total of 106 unique listeners have tuned in overall, mostly from the UK with a few from the USA.

For those interested, the schedule can be found by clicking on the link below, if there is no scheduled program running then a selection from the 150 tracks will be played meaning the station is now on air 24/7

Just a short note to say that I nearly completed the bulk of the radio site, with spots to do some live chats, requests, etc....

But it wont be online until after I return from holiday on the 6th July
