The Churchill dragged out of Stainburn is now on display outside, 40 Metres or so from the entrance of the Tank Museum at Bovingdon. I happened to drive past Stainburn when it was being recovered so I saw it, and knew what it was except it has a unusually main gun position set low. I know its at Bovingdon as I was there in September 2014 and read the plaque next to the tank and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I realised I had seen it before some years ago. If I can master the technology i will post a photo from my phone.....just don't hold yer breath

    hi tim

the Churchill is indeed at bovington. the unusual main gun you mention is a dummy 3 howitzer and has replaced the besa mg in order to represent a mk1 Churchill, the only surviving mk1 is at the Canadian armour museum. there's a small chance that the Churchill at stainburn moor is a mk1, we'll never know until we dig it up :)

myself and a couple of other fella's spent a few hours fighting through the forest yesterday on our quest to find the elusive other tank but no joy, although we did bump into a women walking her dogs that had come across it years ago in what she described as a clearing, unfortunately she couldn't remember what part of the forest.! that would have been too easy. i'll do some more research and try again maybe later this month, if nothing else it will get me in shape :)

Some nice range wreck pics. A few WW2 types, & I've no idea what that Septic prototype is doing there:
