paulcheall Son of a Green Howard

I was prompted to postthese pics by another thread I saw wth pics of Dunkirk and thought members might be interested. The pic is of my Dad with the 1 East Lancs waiting in Belgium for a posting to Germany. At the time Dad thought he was going back to the 6 Green Howards, part of 69 Brigade in 50 Div, but at this point they had been withdrawn from the fighting and Dad ended up with the East Lancs. In the end, they were all posted to Hamburg and by the time they got there the war was over.

I don't know who the lads are in the picture except for my dad front right with Cockney Tommy Chaff by his side, who I'd love to track down as I believe he survived the war.

I am not sure which church the boys were in front of but think it might be Church of Our Lady. I have found the colour pic on the web and it looks like the same place?

    Paul
