Thought this may be of interest to some of you. This is an original Wehrpass of a German soldier killed at Tver, Was Kalinin, on 15th December 1941 in the Russian counter attack some 100km North West of Moscow.
He was signed up in Braunschweig on 29th September 1939. It covers his military record which included the attack on Dunkirk. He was in an artillary unit which then went to the Eastern front for the attack on Moscow.

It says where he was killed and how and that he was buried at a place called Asinkino. This place exists but in retreat with rock hard ground it is highly unlikely he was buried and this was all for the comfort of the family. He apparently died of a wound to the leg! The family advert in the local paper and receipt for the advert are with this item which i feel very honoured to have.

It was found in the ex wife, of the surviving brothers photgraph box by myself in Braunchweig. The surviving brother hid up i am told and survived the war. He went on to become one of the most successful breaders of Show Jumping horses in Germany including, For Pleasure ridden by Marcus Erhning, to World championship and Olympic sucess.

    Kind regards, Tim.
