The Battle of Ylimaa War Memorial, The Lappland War, 7 - 10 Oct 1944

 

The monument to the Battle of Marttila, the battle took place on 29 August 1599 between Finns and Swedes.

 

The memorial for the Soviet soldiers who fell in battles of the three encirclements in Lementti area during the Winter War. The 18th Rifle Division and the 34th Light Tank Brigade of the Soviet Union were mostly destroyed in these battles. The equipment of the armored brigade had been 237 tanks, mainly BT-5 cruiser tanks, 73 armored cars, etc.



Nearby is the memorial of the 37th Guards Corps, which reached the area in July 1944 during the Continuation War but was stopped there.
