Does anybody know how many SOE/Commando raids there were on Norway during the war? And is there a description of those operations anywhere? Thanks. Unaware of whether you got a satisfactory answer. They are all listed in William MacKenzie: The Secret history of the SOE
I'm looking for a picture from Harstad Cemetery: LAIRD J.R. Lance Corporal 7684769 1940-04-16 HARSTAD CEMETERY, Allied Plot D. 7 NORWAY http://www.corpsofmilitarypolice.org/soldier/4179/ Much appreciated if anyone can help.
cmp; I'll see what I can do, but not for a while yet. Have put it on my list, where there is another grave photo in Narvik already. Narvik is quite far up north (consult a map, if needed). At the moment it's about 5000 km away...
No hurry. Thanks for the offer. It's a safe bet you will be there before me anyway. L/CPL Laird is the only CMP casualty in Norway: http://www.corpsofmilitarypolice.org/country/no/ Cheers

Hi Andy, Difficult to navigate even in English. Do they have photos of war graves? I saw something about 400 Krona a year. Maybe it is just a little late in the evening for me. Cheers Geoff

Don't know if any of above posters will get alerts from this thread ... I will be visiting cemeteries in Norway next May and will be happy to take photos. I am trying to retrace the footsteps of a cousin in the Scots Guards who died in May 1940. I will start at Harstad, visit graves there, in Narvik, Bodo and on the way from there to Mo i Rana. I realise not all graves will be Scots but, having read so many books about the campaign I feel I have to "visit" as many as I can. Please ask for photos if I am at your cemetery.
There were South Wales Borderers killed in the Bodo area. I have copies of the original graves but would very much appreciate updated versions please. Last ones I had were from 1980. If you can do this I would really appreciate it as these were my grandfathers friends. Thank you
Just, literally in half an hour, going on holiday! Can you send me exactly who you want and which cemetery? I have my itinerary fairly set but can try. Best wishes.
Wow thank you! I would like to see the graves of Borderers buried in Bodo or close by - Pte Johnny Briggs son of a shoe manufacturer and Pte Sparks, Evans, simpkins, bayliss, cant recall all but they are all in Ballengen cemetery so I dnt know how far from your track that my be. Thank you anyway
