There are 9 RAAF deaths recorded in Israel. If anyone is able to take photos of these headstones or knows anybody that can, please let me know. Cheers Geoff These are the cemeteries: <table x:str="" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 398px; height: 35px;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><col style="width: 215pt;" width="286"><col> <tbody><tr><td class="xl24" style="height: 12.75pt; width: 215pt;" height="17" width="286">GAZA WAR CEMETERY - 1 </td> </tr></tbody><tbody><tr style="height: 12.75pt;" height="17"></tr></tbody></table> <table x:str="" style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 360px; height: 36px;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><col style="width: 215pt;" width="286"> <tbody><tr style="height: 12.75pt;" height="17"> <td class="xl24" style="height: 12.75pt; width: 215pt;" height="17" width="286">KHAYAT BEACH WAR CEMETERY - 3 </td> </tr> <tr style="height: 12.75pt;" height="17"> <td class="xl24" style="border-top: medium none; height: 12.75pt;" height="17">RAMLEH WAR CEMETERY - 5 - Completed </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

Diane There is a chap on the WW1 forum who has a contact in Israel for the Ramleh graves you might like to ask. His user name is 'forthefallen' (David) Regards Andy
I was thinking of getting photos together for my site. A lot of the fallen I can get pictures of the men. For those I cant I might try for photos. Irish Guards : Roll of Honour Conor
Conor, If anything comes of this, you are welcome to a copy also. Regards, d David is very helpful. He arranged for his contact to achieve both my ww1 & ww2 requirements. This is his website: Reminiscene: Military Postcards cheers
I am still awaiting a reply as to whether his contact can do my 'known' Airborne chaps! There were only 52 of them!!, and thats without any post 1947 (the CWGC cut off date) Andy
I am still awaiting a reply as to whether his contact can do my 'known' Airborne chaps! There were only 52 of them!!, and thats without any post 1947 (the CWGC cut off date) I am sorry that after so long I still haven't got back to you on that, Andy. Unfortunately, having cleared most, though not all of the smaller requests, there is somebody ahead of you with a request for over 70 photographs!! I have broached that request with my contact but have yet to receive a firm yes or no from him. Apparently, it's not the taking of the photographs that is the problem though, periodically, access to the cemetery is difficult or impossible due to local circumstances. The main problem is that high resolution photographs mean hefty file sizes and both my contact and I have had more than our fair share of email problems as a result of that. All is not lost yet, though. We will see how (or if) we fare with the larger request. If that works out OK, I'll let you know through this forum rather than the WWI forum whether he can take on your request, too. Sorry not to be able to give you anything more encouraging at the moment. David
David I hopee you did not take my post as a criticism, as having reread my post it appears to be, which was not as I intended. I quite understand the difficulties, it would appear your contact must have had a very long list of requests, and with the local problems to compound that. There is no hurry at all, and as for the resolution of the photographs, I would be quite happy with the lowest resolution (provided everything can be read on the headstone) if that would help in the sending of them. Thanks Andy
No, I didn't take it as a criticism though I recognise that I should have got back to you sooner with an explanation of the delay. So, my apologies for that. I'll let you know just as soon as I can whether your request is a starter. Who knows, we might be able to find another way around the dreaded email problem.
David, Just a thought, would you consider uploading them initially from digital camera (?) to photobucket (or similar free facility) into an album for each cemetery? Your contact could then share the link for the album with you. In turn you could email either the album link or individual photo links to those making requests? No jamming up your email accounts ... Each photo could be accessed like this: http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll119/dbf_bucket/WAR%20GRAVES/AddisWG.jpg Regards, Diane
Welcome David, Good to see you into the WW2 area. Thanks, Geoff. Diane unwittingly introduced me to the forum so I thought I'd better join it. Good to see you here, too.

As you probably will have gathered, I'm the middle man in this exercise. Emailing the pictures has certainly been a problem for my contact and I'm not even sure that he's got broadband!. I've had to spend a bit of time reducing the resolution of each photograph so that I could at least pass them on to the intended recipients with fewer problems. I have to admit that I've never explored photobucket or similar services. Do I understand correctly that any photographs that are uploaded cannot be viewed by anybody unless they have been given the specific link? If that's the case, this might be worth trying. Watch this space....!

Watch this space....! David, the likes of Picasa and photobucket give the option of making an album private. You can invite whomever you please to view, photobucket then gives the option of a password. The above link I provided is from a private album. The whole contents may not be accessed simply by clicking on the link. However, I could send provide a password and anyone receiving it would have access to the entire album contents. So it may be best if your contacts set up an album in order to download the photos, you could have password access and then pass on individual links of photos to interested parties. Hoping this is clear, I am sure others more versed in the workings of these accounts will correct any errors / make further suggestions. Regards, Diane

When I have downloaded, I advise them so they can delete the photos. Cheers Geoff
